The Restaurant

The Academy Restaurant serves breakfast from 7.45 a.m. each day. It remains open throughout the day for all Academy staff and post-16 students serving complimentary drinks. The cashless card Restaurant system offers good value, healthy food options with the additional 'Grab & Go' counters in conservatory areas providing a range of rolls, sandwiches and fresh fruit desserts throughout the lunch period.

Year Pods

Students in each Year of the Academy have their own entrance, their own Form Rooms which house their personal lockers and their own Pod ‘living space’ between classrooms. Each of the Year pods houses a plasma screen to carry year specific information and news. The start of each day usually starts with Pod briefing before Registration begins.

Primary Hall

The Primary Phase has its own fully equipped Halls in both the main building and the Arc with professional PA system, gym equipment and recreational resources. It is used for sport, assemblies, productions and as a dining hall at lunchtime. In addition Primary pupils enjoy the full range of Academy facilities.

Theatre

The Academy has a strong Performing Arts department and the 300 seat professionally equipped Theatre provides the platform for assemblies and all major Academy productions.

Recording Studio

For students studying any of the Performing Arts disciplines the state of the art industry standard professional recording studio is at their disposal along with expert technical support and training.

Digital Media Suite (the Zeppelin)

An iconic set of rooms in the Quad with state of the art media equipment which supports the extremely popular courses at Key Stages 4 and 5.

Fitness Suite

A superbly equipped, air-conditioned fitness suite and multi gym are just some of the excellent facilities which both staff and students can enjoy in the Academy and is particularly popular with staff both before work in the morning and at the end of the day.

Dance Studio

The professional dance studio with outstanding integrated audio, full sprung floor, barres and wall to wall mirrors enables the popularity of Dance to be delivered by professional dance teachers.

Hard Tennis Courts

The outstanding facilities for high level tennis practice, coaching and matches are met by the hard courts which form part of the extensive on-site sports facilities of the Alec Reed Academy.

Wireless Network and Internet Access

Wherever you work in the Academy the computer network and Internet can be accessed wirelessly with speed and flexibility being a key to efficient working practices.

Sports Hall, Gym and Climbing Wall

The four court Sports Hall boasts two huge electric scoreboards and is marked for a variety of sports including netball, basketball and five aside football. The Gym is fully equipped and also houses the latest in climbing walls.

All-weather pitch

The full sized, floodlit All-weather pitch sets the highest standards for the Academy’s sports specialism and the excellent young sports people who attend each day. Along with many of the Academy’s facilities, it is used extensively by local clubs and the community in the evenings, weekends and during holiday periods
