Our Academy
The Alec Reed Academy provides all-through education where children start in the Nursery at
three and stay until they leave at eighteen.
Alec Reed Academy is the realisation of its founding sponsor Sir Alec Reed’s determination to provide children with an outstanding education. The Academy builds on exactly the same principles: high expectations, doing the simple things right and the belief that all children, regardless of background or ability, can succeed.
Thriving Primary and Secondary schools each have their own specialist facilities situated on the same site. Post-16 caters for all learners covering A Levels and BTEC. Highly successful Post-16 Football and Basketball academies provide programmes of top class coaching by UEFA A-licensed coaches (Yannick Bolasie of Premier League football club Everton, and formerly Crystal Palace, is a former student).
The Academy provides a calm, ordered learning environment where children are treated as individuals and thrive.
In designing the Academy, architects have created a spacious, light and airy environment with modern facilities. Impressive state of the art facilities include indoor and outdoor sports centres available to students, families, the community and professional clubs alike. In addition, ‘Academy Fields’ provides a unique nature area that is perfect for outdoor learning.
Pupils in Primary achieve above national average in both key stages. In the Secondary phase, pupils achieve highly in the English Baccalaureate and in recognition of excellent examination results at GCSE and A Level, the Alec Reed Academy was awarded the National Collins PiXL Award for Outstanding Progress (2014) and the Learning Plus national award for for A Level Value Added (2016).
