Jamie's Farm Visit This week, a group of selected Year 7 and Year 8 students have embarked on an exciting outdoor trip to Jamie's Farm. They are gaining hands-on experience in agriculture by working alongside the team on the farm. A highlight from yesterday was meeting the puppies after a long day on the farm! A huge well done to all the students representing Alec Reed Academy on this trip. Little Shop of Horrors 2026

Little Shop of Horrors 2026 On February 26th and 27th, our secondary performing arts department hosted its annual production. This year's show, Little Shop of Horrors, featured students from Year 7 to Year 12. Both evenings saw excellent attendance from family and friends who came to support the talented performers. We want to thank Mr Francis and Mr Battersby for the countless hours they dedicated to preparing and staging the production. Well done to everyone involved, whether you were part of the cast, stage crew, or the live band. Year 2 Church Visit Year 2 pupils have been learning about Christianity in their Religious Education lessons. On the 2nd of March, pupils visited the local church, St Joseph the Worker, to explore its key features, including the altar, font and stainedglass windows. The children enjoyed asking questions and learning more about how the church is used by the Christian community.

Battle of the Bands 2026 On Thursday 5th February, our Year 13 Music students hosted the much-loved Battle of the Bands, featuring performances from students across the secondary and sixth form phases. Acts were judged by our fantastic panel: Ms Touhey, Ms John and Ms Puddle. The event showcased nine performances to a sold-out theatre. Students voted for their top three acts, while the judges selected the overall winning band. A huge well done to all students who took part in this memorable afternoon, and an extra shout out to our Year 13 Music cohort for organising such a successful event in a short space of time. #alecreedacademy #secondary #music #performingarts

Year 4 Storytelling Adventures Pupils in Year 4 were delighted to welcome professional storyteller Jordan Campbell, who shared a series of captivating adventure tales with them throughout the morning. Inspired by his stories, the children went on to create detailed maps of the settings and wrote thoughtful summaries of the narratives. A huge thank you to Jordan Campbell for visiting the academy and working so wonderfully with our Year 4 pupils. #alecreedacademyprimaryschool #year4 #storytelling

La Chandeleur 2026 Today in the Secondary phase, a group of Year 7 and Year 8 students were selected by Ms. Maras and Ms. Bruvier to take part in a pancake making session. This activity was held to celebrate the French festival La Chandeleur, a holiday celebrated 40 days after Christmas. The students made excellent pancakes, and it was a lovely way for them to spend their Tuesday. A massive thank you to Ms. Maras for organising such a wonderful activity for our students. #alecreedacademy #lachandeleur
