The NEU has announced national and regional action on Wednesday 1st February. This will impact on all schools across the country. On this day the secondary school will be open for the children of critical workers, our vulnerable children and pupils in Year 11 and Year 13.

Our children of critical workers are the children whose parents work in the following areas:

• The NHS,

• Social Care,

• Education support staff,

• Police and law enforcement,

• National Crime Agency,

• Waste Disposal,

• Oil, gas, electricity, and water services

Our vulnerable children include those who:

• Have a Child in Need Plan or a Child Protection Plan

• Have an Education, Health, Care Plan (EHCP)

• Have an allocated social worker or social care involvement

• Are a Looked After Child (LAC)

• Has emotional/mental health issues

If your child falls into the Critical Worker or Vulnerable child category and you are going to send them into school on Wednesday 1st February could you please send an email to enquiries@alecreedacademy.co.uk by Thursday 26th January with your child’s name and year group written clearly on the email and say that your child will be attending school on the 1st February based on the ‘Critical Worker’ or ‘Vulnerable child’ category. This will help us with all of the planning that needs to be in place. Where possible please email us from your employer email address to assist in identifying critical worker parents.

Year 11 and Year 13 children will receive a tailored day of education to enable them to prepare for their summer examinations. Their school day will start at 8.40am and finish at 3.00pm.

Children in all other year groups will be provided with on line activities on Microsoft Teams that can be completed during the course of the day. They should ensure that they have their personalised logins so they can access these resources.

• Wednesday 15 March 2023

• Thursday 16 March 2023

We anticipate that on these days the academy will operate in the same way as on Wednesday 1st February. We will though write to you again should circumstances change.
