Application forms
Seen the perfect role for you? All you need to do is complete the relevant application form (either Teaching Staff, Associate Staff or Volunteer/Placement) and send it to the HR Department. Either in the post, email or by fax. All addresses are on the front page of the application form.
We regret that we are unable to simply accept CV’s in place of the full application form for any position in any circumstance due to our Safeguarding procedures.
Data protection
Alec Reed Academy is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. Our privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you during and after your work relationship with us, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
If your application is successful the Academy will retain your application form for the duration of your employment in your personnel file. All unsuccessful applications will normally be confidentially destroyed after six months.
What to expect
The Academy provides Job Descriptions and Person Specifications for all vacancies within the Academy. All advertisements state the full pay range relating to the post and the closing date. All vacancies are advertised as widely as possible and in appropriate publications.
We aim to ensure the best quality candidates are recruited on the basis of their merits, abilities and suitability for the position. Once we have received your application it will be reviewed by the shortlisting panel against the Essential criteria in the Person Specification. Should we wish to discuss your application with you further you will be invited to attend an interview.
Unsuccessful applications
We regret that we cannot directly contact all candidates if they have been unsuccessful in reaching interview stage. However, we are happy to provide feedback on applications on request. If you do not hear from us within three weeks of the closing date, then please consider that your application has not been successful on this occasion.
Interview process
The interview process is an opportunity for us to get to know the person behind the application form and for you to see the Alec Reed and its staff for yourself.
Interviews for Teaching roles will normally take place over the course of a day. The selection process will vary depending on the role but will normally include a tour of the site and meet the department, along with a Lesson Observation. Should this be successful then you will immediately attend a panel interview with the Principal & CEO; Curriculum Leader and member of the Human Resources team.
If you are applying for a Middle Leader role, then you may also undertake a suitable Data Task. More senior roles will usually take place over a couple of days and include more extensive selection processes such as student panel, role play and presentation to the Board of Trustee's.
Non-teaching roles will vary in the format of their interviews but will normally include a relevant In-Tray or Data Task and panel interview with a member of the Leadership Team, Line Manager for the role and member of the Human Resources team.
Safeguarding
At Alec Reed we take our commitment to safeguarding very seriously. All candidates invited to interview will be asked to demonstrate their understanding of safeguarding to a member of staff who is trained in Safer Recruitment. It is an expectation that all candidates attending interview have read the Academy’s Child Protection Policy. The Academy's policy on Employment of Ex-Offenders can be found below.
